Archaeologists found the remains of a 1500 year old skeleton in the excavations carried out around the Apollon Temple, whilst trying to discover the Holy road.
The skeleton was found in the Holy Road excavations carried out by a German Archaeology team, trying to trace the road between the Temple of Apollo and Miletos.
The Archaeology team chairman Andreas Furtwangler said, “This skeleton belongs to a 20 year old woman. We found some cracks and signs of force on the skull.”
Furtwangler also mentioned that the brick grave and a ceramic piece found in the grave gave an idea about the year of the skeleton.
The excavations are continuing with 24 archaeologists, focusing on the Holy Road from the Temple of Apollo to Miletos. It is hoped to continue for a further 10 weeks this year.
