There is plenty in the news this week that’s worth a mention.
There is plenty in the news this week that’s worth a mention.
The Marina is well on the way to completion. The pictures speak for themselves, this is a massive project, one in which the whole of Turkey, let alone Didim will benefit from.
With the news from previous weeks about the Wind Farm, and now the news that the marina will be up and running early, I hope the power problems that have blighted us over the last couple of weeks are finally sorted out so as not to embarrass us when our new sea faring visitors stay at the Marina.
I was very pleased to learn that Kirstie Willetts is finally able to travel home next week after having to stay in the resort for 7 weeks following the mix up with her passport. Whilst I can think of worse places to stay on an enforced holiday, it can’t be much fun when you have to go cap in hand to your family, when your supply of money runs out. Thankfully, Kirstie’s family, and Rebecca’s too have been solid as a rock in their “hour of need” I just hope Kirstie receives the apology she so richly deserves from the other woman, after all, whatever blame lays with the immigration and various agencies and passport controls, ultimately, if the other woman hadn’t been quite so careless, Kirstie would have been home 5 weeks ago.
The Peace festival starts again this weekend. I am always amazed at the sand sculptures formed with just a bit of water, lots of sand and a fantastic imagination. We will be carrying pictures next week of these fascinating works of art, along with other pictures to commemorate this weekend’s events. One event of note is the Concert to be given by Ferhat Gocer, the singer who cheated death not so very long ago on the Bodrum road in a particularly nasty car accident.
Ferhat will be performing on Tuesday evening on Altinkum’s main beach at 22:00. This will be followed by a spectacular firework display, which if it’s anything like last years, lives up to its name.
Finally, I am sure you will be interested to see that Gill’s column is once again featuring the story about the illegal disappearance of the street animals in and around Didim. Whilst this is not a new story, what is new is the Rally that will be taking place in different locations all across the WORLD as a result of the treatment of these animals. If you cannot attend one of these events, show your support by logging on to our website and voting in the new poll we are carrying out to see if visitors feel the treatment of these animals in Turkey is fair or not.
